Maharashtra NavNirman Sena MLAs visit Phyan cyclone-hit area in Konkan

Shri. Bala Nandgaokar, Shri. Pravin Darekar and Shri. Mangesh Sangle, the newly elected MLAs of Maharashtra NavNirman Sena, visited the Phyan-cyclone hit districts of Dapoli, Guhagar, Ratnagiri, Devgarh, Vengurle and Sindhudurg recently. They visited the area where coconut, betel nut and mango gardens were destroyed; shops and houses were washed away. It was from these places that they took accounts of actual losses. The MLAs also visited the families of those who lost their lives and offered their condolences. Wherever required, they proffered financial help.

In their meeting with the district Collector, the MLAs pointed to the lapses in the official data and actual losses incurred by the villagers. They concluded that the district’s disaster management system had failed and thus demanded the resignation of the district Collector.

The compensation given to the fishermen and farmers on the coastal areas of Konkan is a joke in comparison to what has been given to those affected by the cyclone in the plateau area. This is an insult to the people in Konkan. On the basis of information obtained first-hand from the cyclone affected, Maharashtra NavNirman Sena MLAs will be questioning the government in the upcoming winter session in Nagpur.

Appeal
The Shirgaokar family of village Burondi (Taluka Dapoli, District Ratnagiri) lost its three earning members to the Phyan cyclone. They also incurred a financial loss worth Rs. 15 lakh. Sensing the seriousness of the situation, party MLAs have extended financial available to the family. They have also appealed to all fellow citizens to come forward and contribute financially.
